The 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium highlighted significant studies on breast cancer treatment. The AFT-38 PATINA trial demonstrated the benefit of adding palbociclib to maintenance therapy in hormone receptor–positive, HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer, significantly improving progression-free survival. The COMET trial indicated that active monitoring in low-risk ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) was noninferior to guideline-concordant management, providing a non-surgical approach.
