A recent study by researchers at the National Cancer Institute found an increase in the incidence of early-onset cancers, particularly breast, colorectal, endometrial, pancreatic, and kidney cancers among individuals younger than 50. While mortality rates did not increase for most cancers, colorectal, uterine, and testicular cancer mortality rates showed an increase. The findings emphasize the need for early-onset cancer prevention and screening efforts, as the drivers of increasing incidences are cancer-specific and may involve a combination of established and new etiologic factors and increased detection.
