ASCO and the European Cancer Organisation to Hold Briefing on Providing Cancer Care During the War in Ukraine

ASCO and the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) will hold a joint session on Friday, March 18, from 9:00–10:00 AM ET, 14:00–15:00 CET, to discuss the current situation of refugees fleeing Ukraine and the impact the war is having on the ability of oncologists in Ukraine, Poland, and Romania to care for patients with cancer. The online session will also provide resources and networks developed by ASCO, ECO, and the American Cancer Society (ACS) to support oncology clinicians and their patients in the region.

The program agenda includes presentations by Andriy Hrynkiv, MD, a surgical oncologist in Ukraine and a member of ASCO’s Central and Eastern European Regional Council; Richard Sullivan, MD, PhD, a World Health Organization Emergency Committee Member; Nicoleta Antone, MD, a medical oncologist in Romania and a member of ASCO’s Central and Eastern European Regional Council; Jacek Jassem, MD, PhD, President of the Polish Cancer League; Laura Makaroff, DO, Senior Vice President, Prevention & Early Detection at ACS; and Julie Gralow, MD, FACP, FASCO, Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of ASCO.

The webinar is free and open to everyone—no registration is required. A link to the webinar will appear on the event page at 8:45 AM ET on March 18. The session will be recorded and will appear on the event page later in the afternoon.
