Research advances are being made faster than ever before, yet it often takes several months before study results can be presented at an upcoming conference. Faster dissemination of practice-changing science is needed to better help clinicians deliver the most up-to-date care and treatments to patients. This is why ASCO launched the ASCO Plenary Series, a new educational program to promote and share the latest clinically relevant abstracts with researchers and clinicians year-round.

“With the fast pace of innovation and ASCO‘s commitment to provide up-to-date information and education to providers and patients worldwide, regularly scheduled opportunities to disseminate important new data have become a necessity. I am excited that the ASCO Plenary Series provides another opportunity to bring together our global ASCO community using easily accessible modern technology,” said ASCO President Everett E. Vokes, MD, FASCO.

Designed to keep clinicians current on new and emerging research in between meetings, the ASCO Plenary Series provides an online forum for presentation and discussion of the latest cancer research. Abstracts highlighting novel, high-impact clinical trials with implications for the global oncology community will be selected for presentation in a live, 1-hour online session each month. Each abstract presentation will be accompanied by a discussant presentation and followed by a live question-and-answer session.

The series will be overseen by a multidisciplinary Scientific Review Committee. Members of the committee have diverse expertise spanning across multiple disease sites. George W. Sledge, Jr, MD, FASCO, Past President of ASCO, will serve as the inaugural Scientific Review Committee Chair; Melissa L. Johnson, MD, and Toni K. Choueiri, MD, will serve as Associate Chairs.

ASCO Plenary Series sessions will be held monthly, with the inaugural event taking place on November 16, 2021. The first submission deadline will be October 5, 2021. Sessions will take place monthly through April and will resume after the ASCO Annual Meeting.

The ASCO Plenary Series is an exclusive benefit of Annual Meeting registration. 2021 Annual Meeting registrants will automatically have access to the series through April 2022. Registrants for the 2022 Annual Meeting will have access to previous and upcoming ASCO Plenary Series sessions leading up to the 2023 Annual Meeting.
