Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, have welcomed Henry A. Pitt, MD, to its team of physicians, researchers, and administrators. Dr. Pitt is the new Chief of Oncologic Quality, a role that provides leadership and oversight for the planning and execution of varied oncology quality improvement, performance excellence, patient safety, patient satisfaction, infection control, and outcomes reporting.

Dr. Pitt’s previous roles have included Chief Quality Officer for Temple University Health System, Associate Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs and Professor of Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine, and Chief Quality Officer at Indiana University Health Hospital in Indianapolis.

After receiving his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, Dr. Pitt completed his residency training in general surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. He also served as Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. Dr. Pitt’s clinical background includes hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. In addition, he has held many leadership positions in several national and international professional societies.
