Subha Madhavan, PhD
Georgetown University Medical Center has named Subha Madhavan, PhD, as its Chief Data Scientist and Director of its Office for Health Data Science and Informatics. Dr. Madhavan, Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology, also serves as Director of the Innovation Center for Biomedical Informatics at Georgetown University Medical Center.
As Chief Data Scientist, Dr. Madhavan will lead the effort to develop a Master’s program of Health Informatics and Data Science to focus on current and emerging topics such as digital health, precision medicine informatics, and health data science approaches to leverage big data to advance health care and improve outcomes. “Our main objective is to harness the power of information from multiple disparate data sources using advanced techniques such as machine learning and artificial intelligence to produce novel, actionable insights,” Dr. Madhavan noted. “In this role, I will work to develop our data science enterprise with a foundation on interdisciplinary teams and groups.”
In addition, Dr. Madhavan will help develop partnerships with life sciences and health care and information technology industries to develop and implement informatics products and services, as well as cultivate university partnerships with external research organizations. ■
