The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center of the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia has announced the receipt of two accolades by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Jefferson Oncology Medical Associates has been recognized by the NCQA for patient-centered specialty practice (PCSP) and Oncology Medical Home. Both are 3-year terms for the achievement status. The patient-care award is the first-ever recognition of its kind by the organization.
Among numerous categories in which Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson received high marks were quality improvement, whereby the practice monitors at least six standardized oncology quality measures; evidence-based pathways, by which the practice adopts diagnostic and therapeutic, evidence-based pathways and pathways for symptom management; and measure and improve performance, by which the practice systematically monitors its performance and carries out activities to improve clinical outcomes, efficiency, and patient experience.
