Jame Abraham, MD, FACP, has been named Deputy Editor of ASCO’s JCO Oncology Practice (JCO OP). Dr. Abraham is Chairman of the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Cleveland Clinic and Professor of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

The mission of JCO OP, now in its 16th year, is to provide necessary information and insights to keep oncology practitioners current on the changes and challenges inherent in delivering quality oncology care. All content dealing with understanding the provision of care—the mechanics of practice—is the purview of the journal. As Deputy Editor, Dr. Abraham will oversee the continued development of the clinically oriented content in JCO OP, including clinical reviews and expert commentaries. He succeeds James O. Armitage, MD, in this role at the conclusion of Dr. Armitage’s 5-year tenure in January 2021.
Expert in Breast Cancer
Prior to his appointment as Department Chairman, Dr. Abraham served as Director of the Cleveland Clinic Breast Oncology Program and Co-Director of the Cleveland Clinic Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program from 2013 to 2019. He has more than 17 years of experience treating complicated breast cancer diagnoses, from early stage to metastatic, and leading novel clinical trials. Dr. Abraham leads several national and local clinical trials to find better treatment options for patients with early-stage, metastatic, triple-negative, and HER2-positive breast cancers. He has authored more than 200 papers and presentations at national meetings.
Dr. Abraham is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Breast Cancer Committee, which sets treatment guidelines for breast cancer management across the United States. He is Vice Chair of the Research Strategy Committee of NRG Oncology and is also a member of the Breast Committee Working Group for NRG Oncology. He is Vice Chair of the Research Review Committee for the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for NSABP.
