CancerCare, a leading national nonprofit organization providing free support services to anyone affected by cancer, welcomed new board member J. Leonard (Len) Lichtenfeld, MD, MACP, who most recently served as Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the American Cancer Society at its global headquarters in Atlanta.

Dr. Lichtenfeld is a board-certified medical oncologist and internist who was a practicing physician for more than 19 years, and his experience in cancer care, prevention, research, and advocacy spans 40 years. In 2014, Dr. Lichtenfeld joined the Office of the Chief Medical Officer as Deputy Chief Medical Officer, where he provided extensive support to the organization. He served as interim Chief Medical Officer from November 2018 until October 2019.
