Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Integrative Oncology Scholars Program and Integrative Oncology Fellows Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (https://sites.google.com/view/integrative-oncology-scholars-/home). Now in its sixth year, the Integrative Oncology Scholars Program offers educational training in how to evaluate the scientific evidence of the efficacy of complementary therapies, including acupuncture, yoga, meditation, physical activity, and nutrition, to relieve the common side effects of cancer and its treatment. To date, the program has provided educational training in complementary therapies to over 120 clinicians from a variety of disciplines, including radiation therapy, medical and surgical oncology, and palliative care, as well as primary care and dermatology.

The program, which offers a 1-year certificate program and a 2-year integrative oncology fellowship, is supported through a grant from the National Cancer Institute.

Course Curriculum

The 1-year certificate program, which is open to physicians, advanced practitioners, physician assistants, social workers, psychologists, and pharmacists, is a hybrid course that meets monthly for 10 months. Eight of these sessions are held via Zoom and two are in person in conjunction with the ASCO Annual Meeting and the Society for Integrative Oncology Conference.

The 2-year integrative oncology fellowship is open to medical doctors and doctors of osteopathic medicine and the sessions are held online. Upon completion of the fellowship, participants will be eligible for board certification through the American Board of Integrative Medicine.

The first year of the fellowship includes the same hybrid course as the 1-year certificate program, as well as monthly case conferences and support on initiating an integrative consultation service at the fellows’ home institutions.

The second year of the fellowship includes evidence-based integrative approaches for obesity management, cardiovascular disease, and neurological disorders.

Applications are due by May 30, 2026, at 9:00 PM ET.
