The Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO) is issuing a call for members to oncology nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical nurse specialists, advanced degree nurses, and pharmacists. The Society was launched recently during JADPRO Live, a meeting of the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology (JADPRO) (click here for coverage from JADPRO Live). JADPRO is the official journal of the new Society.
Pamela Hallquist Viale, RN, MS, CS, ANP, AOCNP®, JADPRO’s Editor-in-Chief and a Founding Member of APSHO, said the new Society is focused on meeting the unique educational and professional needs of the advanced practitioner in hematology and oncology.
ASCO Welcomes APSHO
Following the JADPRO Live First Annual Meeting and the announcement of APSHO’s launch, Allen S. Lichter, MD, FASCO, CEO of ASCO, said in a letter to the Society:
“ASCO also wishes to congratulate you on your new venture with the creation of the Advanced Practitioner Society for Hematology and Oncology (APSHO). We recognize the shared missions of our organizations [ASCO and APSHO] to improve the quality of care for patients with cancer.
