A clinical trial led by Northwestern Medicine found that a drug approved for menopause symptoms may help prevent invasive breast cancer, showing promise in reducing cell growth in breast tissue. The study, presented at the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting, revealed that the combination treatment of conjugated estrogens and bazedoxifene was well-tolerated and most beneficial for postmenopausal women at high risk for breast cancer due to specific lesions. The findings suggest a potential new approach to breast cancer prevention.
