Fox Chase Cancer Center, part of the Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System, recently announced two new additions to its staff.
Shazia K. Nakhoda, MD, a graduate of the Fox Chase–Temple Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, joins the center’s Department of Hematology/Oncology in the Hematology-Lymphoma Program.
Dr. Nakhoda received her medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia. Formerly an internal medicine resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center, she is currently a co-investigator in four ongoing research projects at Fox Chase. Dr. Nakhoda is board-certified in internal medicine and is a member of ASCO and the American Society of Hematology.

Andrea S. Porpiglia, MD, MSc
Andrea S. Porpiglia, MD, MSc, joins the Department of Surgical Oncology in the Division of General Surgery as Assistant Professor. Dr. Porpiglia, who was a complex surgical oncology fellow at Fox Chase, is returning to the center after serving as Division Chief of Surgical Oncology at Crozer-Keystone Health System.
Dr. Porpiglia received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, where she completed her residency in general surgery. She was a research technologist in the Department of Immunology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital before becoming a senior research technologist there. Dr. Porpiglia is certified by the American Board of Surgery in complex general surgical oncology and general surgery. Her society memberships include the Society of Surgical Oncology, Pennsylvania Medical Society, and ASCO.
