Eight individuals were honored at the 2016 MPN Heroes celebration held on the eve of the American Society of Hematology’s (ASH) Annual Meeting & Exposition in San Diego. The MPN Hero award is given by Cure magazine in recognition of an individual’s commitment to helping patients with myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN). The award recipients included researchers, doctors, nurses, caregivers, and advocates.
The MPN Heroes were Erin Blackwell, RN, BSN, OCN, Carolinas HealthCare System’s Levine Cancer Institute; Bonnie Blankert, caregiver; Ann Brazeau, patient advocate; Patricia Koenig, patient advocate; Ross Levine, MD, Laurence Joseph Dineen Chair in Leukemia Research, Director of Memorial Sloan Kettering Center for Hematologic Malignancies; Andrew Schorr, patient advocate; David Wallace, patient advocate; and Elliott Winton, MD, Professor of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Emory School of Medicine.
