Alcohol-associated cancer deaths in the U.S. have significantly increased, particularly among men and individuals aged 55 and older. A study presented at the 2025 ASCO Annual Meeting revealed that deaths rose from 11,896 in 1990 to 23,207 in 2021, with a notable uptick in cancers linked to alcohol, especially liver, colorectal, and esophageal cancers. The research highlighted lack of public awareness, with 39% unaware of alcohol's cancer risks. Results indicate a need for targeted awareness efforts to curb alcohol-related cancer mortality.
