The West Virginia University (WVU) Cancer Institute continues to expand its list of specialists with the addition of eight new doctors.
Sonikpreet Aulakh, MD, will join WVU Medicine from Mayo Clinic Florida, where she is completing a hematology oncology fellowship. She completed her medical degree at Shyam Shah Medical College in Rewa, India, before completing an internship and residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Michigan.

Nour Daboul, MD, will join WVU Medicine from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she is completing a hematology oncology fellowship. Dr. Daboul earned her medical degree from the University of Tishreen in Syria before completing an internal medicine residency program at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania.
Amir Kamran, MD, will join WVU Medicine from Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, where he is completing a medical oncology and hematology fellowship. Dr. Kamran earned his medical degree from Khyber Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan.
Midhun Malla, MD, will join WVU Medicine from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he is completing a hematology oncology fellowship. He completed his medical degree at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Guntur Medical College in Pradesh, India, before completing a residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. He also completed a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Samuel Merrill, MD, will join WVU Medicine from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Merrill completed his medical and doctoral degrees from Washington University in St. Louis before completing an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Vermont and a hematology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He served as an attending physician in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Danh Pham, MD, will join WVU Medicine from the University of Louisville James Graham Brown Cancer Center, where he is completing a hematology oncology fellowship. Dr. Pham completed his medical degree and internal medicine residency at the WVU School of Medicine.
Alper Toker, MD, will join WVU Medicine from the Istanbul University Istanbul Medical School, where he served as Head of the Department of General Thoracic Surgery and Director of the Chest Surgery Program. Dr. Toker completed his medical degree at the Marmara University School of Medicine before completing a residency and fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the Istanbul University Istanbul Medical School Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
Joshua Weir, DO, joined WVU Medicine from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center Stephenson Cancer Center, where he completed a residency in radiation oncology. Dr. Weir completed his medical degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. ■
