The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center–Jefferson Health (SKCC) will establish the Philadelphia T-Cell Lymphoma/Leukemia Initiative to map and address knowledge gaps related to T-cell lymphoma and leukemia (TCLL), unmet patient needs, and barriers to progress in the existing TCLL care model. Pierluigi Porcu, MD, Director of the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation at SKCC, will be leading the initiative, which is being established through a $500,000 gift from the family of Milton Hendricks of Cincinnati.

The initiative will shed light on genetic, ethnic, and socioeconomic TCLL risk disparities and provide clues about factors associated with patterns of disease onset and progression, as well as familial and environmental risk factors and barriers to care. The research team will gain similar insights on a global level through SKCC’s international collaborations.
