The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, and Carol’s Crusade for a Cure Foundation have announced a new partnership and grant opportunity in metastatic triple-negative breast cancer research.

The AACR–Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation–Carol’s Crusade for a Cure Foundation Career Development Award for Metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer Research represents a joint effort to encourage and support junior faculty to conduct research on metastatic triple-negative breast cancer and establish a successful career path in the field.

“The AACR is pleased to partner with Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation and Carol’s Crusade for a Cure Foundation to offer this grant opportunity for a promising scientist committed to making an impact on the lives of those diagnosed with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer,” said Mitch Stoller, Executive Director of the AACR Foundation. “This type of cancer is a particularly aggressive form of breast cancer for which there are no targeted therapies, and this development award will help accelerate progress against this hard-to-treat disease.”

“There is a critical need for research specifically focused on metastatic disease,” said Hayley Dinerman, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation. “We are thrilled to offer this grant opportunity to a promising young investigator who has the potential to impact the many women living with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.”

“After our mom was in remission for nearly 5 years, we were devastated to learn her breast cancer had metastasized. Having witnessed the lack of treatment options available to my mom as she navigated living with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer over the last 2 years of her life, our foundation is thrilled to be able to support a grant opportunity specifically focused on such a critical area of cancer research,” said Lexi Klebanow, Co-Founder of Carol’s Crusade for a Cure Foundation.

The research proposed for funding may be basic, translational, or clinical in nature, and must have direct applicability and relevance to metastatic triple-negative breast cancer. The grant is being awarded in honor of Carol Eilbott Klebanow.

It is anticipated that one grant will be funded. The grant will provide $250,000 over 3 years, with the grant term to begin July 1, 2016. The recipient will formally accept the grant at the AACR Annual Meeting 2016, held April 16–20 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Investigators interested in the program can find further details here. To complete an application, please visit the proposalCENTRAL website. Applications must be submitted by noon ET, January 18, 2016.
