Friends of Cancer Research announced the election of Richard Pazdur, MD, to its Board of Directors. Dr. Pazdur spent 26 years at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where he served as the founding director of the Oncology Center of Excellence and played a leading role in shaping the regulatory framework for cancer drug development and approval in the United States.
According to the organization, Dr. Pazdur will bring extensive expertise in regulatory science and oncology drug development as the group continues its efforts to accelerate patient access to innovative cancer therapies.
“Few people have done more to modernize cancer drug development and bring meaningful therapies to patients than Rick Pazdur,” said Ellen Sigal, PhD, Chair and Founder of Friends of Cancer Research. “Rick combines scientific rigor, urgency, and an unwavering focus on patients in a way that has shaped the field for decades. We are honored to welcome him to the board and excited for the perspective and leadership he will bring to Friends.”
The announcement comes as Friends of Cancer Research marks its 30th anniversary and continues initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of cancer drug development and expanding access to scientific advances.
