Brian Bolwell, MD, FACP
Brian Bolwell, MD, FACP, has been appointed to the newly created role of Chair, Physician Leadership and Development within the Mandel Global Leadership and Learning Institute at Cleveland Clinic. His new position is effective May 1, 2021.
Dr. Bolwell has served as Chair of Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute since 2010. Significant contributions during his tenure include the achievement of national leadership in patient access (with a focus on time to treat), top five recognition for academic and clinical expertise (U.S. News & World Report), oversight of the construction of a new 277,000-square-foot cancer facility, and the launch of VeloSano, which has generated $24 million in philanthropic funding to support cancer research.
As Chair of Physician Leadership and Development, Dr. Bolwell will guide the ongoing development of current and future physician leaders to amplify their leader practices. In this role, he will work in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Chief of Staff Beri Ridgeway, MD, to advance professional staff leadership across the enterprise. He will continue the work he started in 2019 as Director of Physician Leadership and Development.
Jame Abraham, MD
Jame Abraham, MD, Chair of the Cleveland Clinic Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, will serve as Acting Institute Chair. Dr. Abraham is Professor of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Dr. Abraham is also Vice Chair of the Research Strategy Committee of NRG Oncology and a member of the NRG Breast Committee Working Group. He is Vice Chair of the Research Review Committee for the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project and a member of the NSABP Scientific Advisory Board.
A search committee has been formed for a new Chair of the Taussig Cancer Institute.
