The U.S. House of Representatives passed monumental legislation that will accelerate the discovery, development, and delivery of promising new cancer treatments. The 21st Century Cures Act advances big data and precision medicine and strengthens the National Institutes of Health and Food and Drug Administration.

ASCO has weighed in heavily throughout the development of this legislation and will continue to work closely with lawmakers on its advancement. ASCO encourages the passage of this legislation in the U.S. Senate this fall.

The 21st Century Cures legislation will help foster big data advancements, like ASCO’s CancerLinQ™, a cutting-edge health information technology platform that will revolutionize how we care for people with cancer, and the Targeted Agent and Profiling Utilization Registry (TAPUR) Study, ASCO’s first-ever clinical trial, designed to learn from the real-world practice of precision medicine. ■
