On November 27, 2018, the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) dedicated the conference room on its oncology floor in the name of faculty member Nagi El Saghir, MD, FACP, FASCO, Head of the Hematology/Oncology Division and Director of the Breast Center of Excellence at AUBMC. Dr. El Saghir was recognized for his efforts and achievements in teaching, research, treatment of patients, and public service at the AUBMC, in Lebanon, and worldwide.

“I am greatly honored,” said Dr. El Saghir. “It is a very gratifying recognition of my dedication to better patient care, multidisciplinary management, teaching, clinical research, leadership, and professional and community service,” he added.

Dr. El Saghir is the Founding President of the Lebanese Breast Cancer Foundation and author of the book ABC of Breast Diseases. He is a leader of many cancer awareness campaigns, patient advocacy groups, and patient support groups. He received the Medal of Honor for Achievement in 2002 for the improvement of patient outcome and the National Cedar Medal of Honor–Rank Officer from the Presidents of Lebanon in 2014.
